ADMISSIONS
PROCESS
Serious
consideration is given to all candidates whose undergraduate
work (and performance on the MCAT if submitted) indicates
that they have the potential to excel in the study of
medicine. In assessing that potential, the Committee
evaluates all factors related to the applicant's scholastic
record.
Although
scholastic performance is an important consideration
in the admissions process, it is not the only factor
considered. The Committee also considers letters of
recommendation, the applicant's record of accomplishments
beyond the scholastic, pre-medical committee evaluations,
and his or her personal qualities. Also desirable is
documentation of any meaningful exposure to medicine.
Those
whose application documents are judged to be indicative
of the potential necessary for successfully completing
the prescribed course of study will be invited for an
interview, generally within two to four weeks after
the application is received. Persons whose applications
are incomplete or whose qualifications are not acceptable
will be so notified. The Admissions Committee's decision
is communicated by letter to the applicant as soon as
possible after the interview.
After
receiving notification of admission, the student must
place a $500 deposit to hold his or her place in the
class. This deposit shall be credited to the first semester's
tuition.
